FERNDALE – La Comunidad and Hermanos de Corazon, two well known groups offering support to Michigan’s LGBT Latino community, are joining forces to host “Latin Night” at Menjo’s on Friday, Nov. 5.
La Comunidad, a program of the Midwest AIDS Prevention Project, is Michigan’s largest LGBT Latino/a social and advocacy group with more than 250 members statewide. Hermanos de Corazon, a program of the Detroit Hispanic Development Corporation, offers weekly support groups for gay and bisexual Latino men to more than 100 members in the Metro Detroit Area. Both programs have been instrumental in providing diverse programs and community events for the past few years.
“As the LGBT Latina/o community grows in Michigan, we hope that we can continue to unite to offer a variety of events supporting this community,” said Michael Odom, coordinator for La Comunidad.
La Comunidad and Hermanos de Corazon will continue to host Latin Night at Menjo’s (928 W. McNichols in Detroit) the first Friday of every month with drink specials and the latest in salsa, meringue, free-style, and Latin dance tracks.
