10th annual conference to address STDs and HIV

On December 2-3, 2004 the Michigan Department of Community Health, Division of HIV/AIDS-STD, will host “STD & HIV: A Decade of Working Together” at the Ypsilanti Marriott at Eagle Crest in Ypsilanti.
Workshops at the conference will range from “Don’t Dismiss Abstinence” to “Why Are You Working Harder Than Your Clients?” Other workshops will deal with youth issues, including one workshop that will feature a panel of young people who will work to educate participants “about their experiences in and observations about today’s sexually charged world,” according to the conference brochure.
Other conference highlights will include a reception and screening of the film, “A Closer Walk,” and an awards presentation “to individuals who have contributed in unique or outstanding ways,” including a posthumous award.
Featured speakers at the conference will include Robert Fullilove, EdD, Columbia University on the “Elephant in the Living Room,” and Randy Pope, the former AIDS Director for the Michigan Department of Community Health.
Continuing education credits will be available.
