Join your fellow citizens at Affirmations Lesbian and Gay Community Center Thursday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. for VENT.
Since Tuesday, Nov. 2, the staff at Affirmations Lesbian and Gay Community Center have reported seeing a tremendous amount of sadness, grief, and anger about the recent election. According to an email announcing VENT, “We’ve seen it in the eyes of those walking into the Center and we’ve heard it in numerous conversations, both on the phone and in person, that we’ve had with our community members. We feel it as a staff, as community members, as people. Our straight allies have voiced incredible shame at knowing their fellow citizens voted to discriminate against gay people, burning it into the Michigan Constitution.”
As a result Affirmations is opening its doors this Thursday to all who are disgusted, sad, angry, depressed and/or outraged over the recent election LGBTQ and straight allies – to come together and VENT. VENT your rage, VENT your frustration. Affirmations is providing this space with the hope that people can come together and VENT, then get organized and do something about it.
Affirmations is located at 195 West Nine Mile in Ferndale. For more information call 248-398-7105.
