ROYAL OAK – Dignitaries, diners and discerning shoppers of Royal Oak all came out for the grand opening of Pronto!’s newest venture, the Pronto! Corner Store. This New York style grocery store/bodega is featuring Pronto!’s Tummy Luv line of baked goods, and a full line of grocery products, from gourmet entrees that are ready to grab-and-go to everyday products like eggs and milk.
“Over 150 people showed up for the ribbon cutting. It was the most remarkable thing!” said Pronto! co-owner Bill Thomas.
The new Pronto! Corner Store is catering to the growing residential population in downtown Royal Oak, many of whom lead hectic lives and don’t have the time to prepare full course meals.
“We have refrigerators with fresh gourmet meals, hommous, baba ghannooj, salsa – you name it,” said Thomas.
He added that in the short time they’ve been open, he’s already noticed an interesting pattern in their evening clientele. “Every night at 9 p.m. sharp, it turns into all gay men,” he said. “We call it the 9 o’clock switch,” he laughed.
Pronto! Corner Store is located at the corner of Washington St. and Sixth Ave. in downtown Royal Oak.
