FERNDALE – On Sept. 9, Affirmations Lesbian and Gay Community Center is hosting an event that is part party, part networking meeting for LGBT students preparing to go back to school.
The purpose of the Back to School Bask is not only “to celebrate what’s left of summer, but to also offer an opportunity for members of local schools’ Gay/Straight Alliances to share ideas about activities, fundraising events, and community service efforts taking place at their schools.”
Affirmations Youth Program will provide pop, chips and snacks as well as music and games.
Plans are also in the works for a Regional Gay Straight Alliance.
The Back to School Bash will be held from 7-11 p.m. at Affirmations located at 195 W. Nine Mile Road in Ferndale. For more information regarding the Back to School Bash or Regional the GSA, contact Cass Varner, Affirmations youth program coordinator, at 248-398-7105, ext. 14.
