Nightnotes Season opens with 'If It Ain't Baroque, Don't Fix It'

BIRMINGHAM – An evening of baroque masterpieces for winds and continuo will unfold in the charming and intimate setting of Hagopian World of Rugs in Birmingham, as Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings opens its 2005-2006 Nightnotes series with "If It Ain't Baroque, Don't Fix It."
The concert will take place on Friday, Sept. 16, featuring DCWS oboists Donald Baker and Sally Pituch, flutist Laura Larson, and pianist Angelina Pashmakova. The program will include Bach's Flute Sonata in B minor, Handel's Trio Sonata in E flat Major and his Oboe Sonata in G minor, Loeillet's Trio Sonata in F Major, and Quantz' Trio Sonata in C minor.
In addition to performing on the opening concert, Sally Pituch has recently been named Artistic Director of the Nightnotes series.
The 8:30 p.m. performance is preceded by an hors d'oeuvres reception at 8 p.m. and is the first of the five Nightnotes concert series. Tickets are $20 and may be obtained by calling 248-559-2095. Hagopian World of Rugs in Birmingham is located at 850 S. Old Woodward in Birmingham.
