FERNDALE – On Oct. 22, 150 members and friends of Metropolitan Community Church of Detroit ordained and installed Rev. Kevin Kinsel as their Associate Pastor of Congregational Life. Kinsel, an openly gay minister, just completed his Graduate Certificate of Theology from the Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit, Michigan.
Kinsel, a native Michigander, was turned away from a Catholic seminary and has been a clinical social worker for approximately twenty years. He has been a member of MCCD since 2001 and was approved for ordination by the congregation in July of this year. Rev. Kinsel will provide counseling and support to the congregation under Senior Pastor Rev. Mark Bidwell.
Starting Nov. 27, MCCD will move to two Sunday morning services, one at 9 a.m. and one at 11 a.m. For more information contact MCCD at 248-399-7741 or email [email protected].
