ROYAL OAK – All Eyes will be on Metro Detroit leading up to and during Super Bowl XL. Guests to Downtown Royal Oak will score quite a few touchdowns this week with a locally designed roster of events and promotions called ÒTailgate Royal Oak.Ó The newly formed Royal Oak Restaurant Association has teamed up with the Royal Oak Downtown Development Authority and created Tailgate Royal Oak to bring out locals and tourists as only Royal Oak can.
ÒDowntown Royal Oak is a major focal point for media, tourists and locals to enjoy for its one-of-a-kind dining, shops and nightlife,Ó says DDA Chairperson Barbara Bos.
Tailgate Royal Oak offers something for everyone from the football fanatic to the family who wants to participate in something sporty, to the shopper looking for great winter sales, to the person looking for a little pampering to cure the winter blues. During Tailgate Royal Oak, two lucky customers will win tickets to the big Super Bowl XL Game — a prize valued at $6,400 on EBay and growing in value every day.
Head to Downtown Royal Oak now through Feb. 5 and enjoy the following:

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, Tailgate takes you to your favorite Royal Oak establishments for an opportunity to win two tickets to Super Bowl XL. Customers will pick up a registration form at participating establishments and must take it to all the others and have it stamped. Tickets will be awarded only to an entry with a fully stamped form.
Thursday, Feb. 2 is DivaÕs Day and Night on the Town. Even those who don’t like football like sales. Several stores and restaurants will offer sales, discounts and more!
Friday, Feb. 3 and Saturday, Feb. 4 is Sports Market Day at the FarmerÕs Market. Shop 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a variety of sports memorabilia from select vendors.
Friday night is Luge Night. Visit your favorite bar or restaurant for a cocktail sent down a frozen luge during the ÒindoorÓ ice festival.
Sports fans and shoppers who need an energy boost will appreciate Red Zone Saturday Feb. 4. Sponsored by Red Bull, participating bars and restaurants will offer specials on Red Bull drinks.
