FERNDALE – Ready for the "dog days of summer"? Check out the quirky and colorful dog paintings of Daniel Stewart. State of the Art Gallery in Ferndale will hold an opening reception June 17 from 5-9:30 p.m, where you can meet the artist and get a gander at these playful pooches and other animals. DJ Jim Stone will spin an eclectic mix of soul, jazz, funk and world music. The exhibit will run through August 19.
On June 17, there will be a silent auction to benefit Guardians for Animals. Angels Cafe, Body Lyrics, Contempo Home, Detroit Home, Ferndale Dream Cruise, Great Wall, Little Friends of Ferndale, Naka, The Twisted Shamrock and other places have donated auction items. The funds help rescue organizations in need with funding, food and supplies.
