DETROIT – Thirty-sixth District Judge Rudy Serra received a rating of "Outstanding" from the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association on July 24. He was the only candidate in the August race to receive the highest rating.
One of Serra's opponents in the August race, Terrence R. Haugabook, received the next highest rating, "Well Qualified." The others either refused to participate or were rated "Not Qualified" to serve on the bench.
Serra said of the rating, √íI am extremely honored that those who know the court and the judges best — the lawyers — agree that I am among the best Judges on the job and that I should keep my job.√ì
The openly gay Serra is the only 36th District Court incumbent facing challengers in the Aug. 8 primary.
