2007 Midwest Trans youth conference coming

FERNDALE- Youth leaders and activists from around the Midwest will converge at Affirmations Community Center in Ferndale around the theme, "Revolutionary Voices, Transforming Choices" at the first Midwest Trans Youth Conference, October 19-21.
The conference is dedicated to transgender, gender non-conforming, questioning and allied youth ages 24 and under and addresses the lack of resources, support and community that transgender youth in the Midwest often face. It will provide an opportunity to join other youth leaders and activists to build skills and know-how through engaging workshops and caucuses, and to tackle the issues of equal rights, equal access and health in our community.
"The Midwest Trans Youth Conference is a unique opportunity for youth. By bringing everyone together, we can start to organize for real change," says Jay Botsford, Conference Organizer from Project Q.
Workshops such as, "Where is the 'T' in GSA?" and "Know Your Rights," a mini-film festival and entertainment by Tranny Road Show promise an exciting and empowering experience. In addition, the National Transgender Education Project will be offering a "Train the Trainers" session for professionals working with transgender youth.
