Williamston Theatre awarded capital improvement grant from DTE Energy Foundation

WILLIAMSTON – The Williamston Theatre has been awarded a grant of $7,500 from the DTE Energy Foundation in support of capital improvement projects on its building located at 122 S. Putn Williamston Theatre Awarded Capital Improvement Grant from DTE Energy Foundation am Street in downtown Williamston.
"The theater is a vibrant part of Williamston's downtown business district and its future," said Paul M. Ganz, DTE Energy Regional Relations Manager. "We are pleased to support such an important community project."
"This is fantastic," said Executive Director John Lepard. "This funding will allow us to improve the production quality of our shows immediately. It's also a great endorsement from a leader in the corporate sector. We are going to use this gift to launch our Capital Campaign."
The theater's Capital Campaign will include improvements to the theatrical equipment, audience seating, restroom facilities and staff work spaces. The theater's staff expects the capital improvements to be completed in stages over the next five years. The theater will be seeking support from corporations and private individuals to fund their capital improvement plans. The theater will continue to produce plays in their space at 122 S. Putnam Street while improvements are made.
The Williamston Theatre is mid-Michigan's newest, professional, live theatre company and is located in the heart of historic downtown Williamston. Its fifth production, the comedy "Music From A Sparkling Planet," written by Douglas Carter Beane, is now in performance. The theater will wrap up the 2006-2007 season with the world premiere of the comedy "Flap" by Michigan playwright Annie Martin.
The 2007-2008 season will be announced in June and will include a return of the popular "Every Christmas Story Ever Told!" and a collaboration with the MSU Department of Theatre in honor of its "Year of Art" celebration.
