Simpson reacts to campus attack

Recently, an incident caused Jacki Simpson to jump into action that involved two graduates of the University of Michigan who were verbally and physically assaulted by two current UofM students. She quickly garnered the support of Sue Eklund, Associate Vice President and Dean of Students, and Sharon Vaughters, Senior Assistant to the Dean of Students, and together the three issued a joint statement, which said in part, "We want to express our deep concern and sadness about this unprovoked attack on members of the university community. Such events have a chilling and frightening impact on the LGBT and Ally Communities."
This type of immediate reaction to discrimination and intimidation is at the core of what the UofM LGBT Office does.
The LGBT Affairs office is hosting a LGBT and Friends Faculty/Staff Social Hour Sept. 13 at 5:15 p.m. For more information about the reception which is part of Welcome Week at UofM contact Simpson at 734-763-4186 or [email protected].
