AIDS Partnership Michigan, a leading multi-service HIV/AIDS organization serving southeast Michigan, and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the nation's leading industry-based, AIDS fundraising and grant making organization, will be recipients of the fundraising benefit "The Lion Sings Tonight!"
The event will be held Monday, Dec. 17 at the Historic Gem & Century Theatre and Century Grille, located at 333 Madison Street in downtown Detroit. Tickets are $50, which includes both the show and afterglow. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.
"The Lion Sings Tonight" features cast members of the hit musical "The Lion King" performing a unique and original show for the residents of Detroit. The national touring production of "The Lion King" is in town performing at the Detroit Opera House through Jan. 6, 2008.
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has been a long time friend and supporter of AIDS Partnership Michigan. Since 2000, BC/EFA has awarded grants to APM in the total amount of $30,000.
AIDS Partnership Michigan will mark its 25th anniversary in 2008. It is one of the longest serving AIDS organizations in the country. APM operates the Michigan AIDS hotline, HIV counseling and testing, case management services and a behavioral health program. In addition, specialized services are provided for the Michigan Department of Corrections, Wayne County Jails and targeted prevention efforts for young African-American men.
