Did you RSVP?

Call me a baby, but my Cry Switch turns to "on" every time Sally Field's eyes glaze over, like they did when her gay son wedded his man during Sunday's bold "Brothers & Sisters" season finale. As Nora, her support – and genuine interference – during Kevin's (Matthew Rhys) big, gay day was perfected through her simple need: To see her son smile. And, clearly, with Scotty (Luke MacFarlane) he is. Who wouldn't be? The guy's charasmatic, cute and caring, and who didn't wanna adopt Nora when she thanked him for making her son happy?
But, even before they shared an aw-worthy mom- and son-in-law moment, she had me at floral arranging, when she went against Kevin's simple-ceremony idea to turn the Walkers' living room into Cranbrook Gardens. It was her words – that his wedding is just as important as anyone else's – that sent shivers through my spine. The Kevin-Scotty union was applauded by GLAAD for being the first ceremony of its kind between series regulars on U.S. broadcast network television – that's huge! Which means, next season, they better have one helluva a honeymoon.
