S.P.I.C.E. to host film and meet and greet as part of HTJ

As part of Hotter Than July 2008, local LGBT group Sistahs Providing Intelligence, Creativity and Empowerment (S.P.I.C.E.) will be hosting a Film Festival Mixer on Thursday, July 24 at the Legal Aid and Defender Association Amphitheatre.
The event will feature the film “Don’t Go” by lesbian writer and director Amber Sharp. The film is the story of a group of individuals living in an apartment complex in Los Angeles. “Don’t Go” chronicles their family, love and life struggles and touches on difficult issues for members of the LGBT community.
Sharp will be present at the S.P.I.C.E. Film Festival Mixer, as well as cast members Skylar Cooper, who plays Bone, and Yaniv Moyal, who plays Jess.
The characters are vastly different and range from a former lawyer with a sick mother to a hermaphrodite who accidentally impregnates her girlfriend.
Hors d’oeuvres, dessert and beverages provided by Gibbs Worldwide Wines will be provided. Attendees will have the opporunity to meet Sharp and the cast members.
The event wil be at 613 Abbott Street in Detroit and the film will start at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.
