Affirmations accepting entries for Post Secret exhibit

Affirmations community center is accepting entries for their Post Secret Gallery as part of their celebration of Coming Out Week.
Secrets play a profound role in the lives of many. For many LGBT people, hiding their sexual orientation or gender identity is still a burden on them in their every day lives. Others may be haunted by their past, or by feelings inside that society won't let them show.
Coming out with our secrets is the best way to accept ourselves and heal from our own guilt, shame and pain – even if the secrets are revealed anonymously. And sharing them with others lets each of us know that no matter what we have been through, we are not alone.
This October, Affirmations is celebrating Coming Out Week with a cathartic display of the most hidden human thoughts and fears. To share your deepest secrets in words, pictures or collages, decorate the front of a five-by-seven inch postcard and mail it to Affirmations at 290 W. Nine Mile Road in Ferndale, or drop it off in the Affirmations lobby. Selected postcards will be displayed in their Secret Gallery Exhibit, which opens Oct. 16 from 7-9 p.m. All entries are anonymous and become property of Affirmations after submission. All entries must be received by Oct. 3.
