LAAN Red Ribbon Gala to raise money, support for HIV/AIDS programs

On Dec. 5 at 7 p.m., the Lansing Area AIDS Network will be hosting their annual Red Ribbon Gala at the Eagle Eye Golf Course and Banquet Facility in Lansing. The event, which includes a strolling dinner and auction, is being held in conjunction with World AIDS Day in hopes to raise funds for various HIV/AIDS programs and services throughout mid-Michigan.
The night's auction will include items from area merchants, service providers, artists and private doners. There will be both silent and live components, as well as a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds will go to benefit LAAN.
Several honorees will also be noted at the event for their pioneering work in HIV/AIDS in the state of Michigan. Dr. Peter Gulick is an associate professor of medicine at Michigan State University, as well as the director of the MSU HIV/Hepatitis Clinic, who has worked tirelessly in the areas of HIV therapy and hepatitis B and C therapy. Dr. Maria Patterson is a professor of microbiology/molecular genetics and pediatrics and is the founder of the Lansing area Pediatrics HIV Clinic, which has been a center for research and care for pediatric HIV/AIDS cases since 1987.
