The Michigan AIDS Coalition’s kickoff event to their summer Dining By Design dinner went off fabulously, said Executive Director Helen Hicks.
The March 25 event, which was aimed at helping to organize supporters and participants for Dining By Design on Aug. 12, 13 and 14, included almost 200 of the 450 attendees invited, including many prestigious members of the Detroit community.
Dining By Design is a fundraising event hosted annually in several U.S. cities by the Design Industry Foundation Fighting AIDS.
Of those who attended, nine people committed to hosting a table; 24 agreed to work with a table sponsor; 11 were going to approach their employer for table sponsorship; 44 signed up to work on a committee; two agreed to chair a committee; four agreed to serve on the Host Committee; seven agreed to donate products; 12 agreed to donate items valued above $100; and nine asked to be invited to an upcoming luncheon to learn more about AIDS.
Catering all facets of the Dining By Design event, as well as the kickoff, will be the Matt Prentice Restaurant Group, one of the major contributors to the event. For the kickoff event, MPRG donated food and linens.
Other sponsors of the kickoff event include HOUR Media, Rossetti Architects, Leon & Lulu, Dino’s Restaurant and Lounge, Bruce White Galleries, Hob Nob Wine and Conte Bassi wines.
Steve Williams from DIFFA National said to Hicks after the event, “Your team is off to an excellent start on this event and seem to have a decent grasp of how the event works overall and what it takes to produce it successfully. We look forward to working with your team to make Dining By Design Detroit one of the best first-year markets ever.”
