Johnny Weir queers up Macomb

MACOMB
Olympic figure skater and fashion-ICE-ta Johnny Weir will perform during the second annual Creme de la Creme Charity Event, produced by Le Salon Couture Boutique and the Panache Group, June 27-28 at the Suburban Ice Arena.
"This is not just a fashion show or just an ice show. To refer to it as such would be like calling Cirque du Soleil a circus show," said Alexis Williamson, owner of Le Salon Couture Boutique. This year's production is a culmination of more than 24 years of Williamson's career as a competitive international ice dancer and her experiences with Paris Fashion Week.
Johnny Weir is a three-time U.S. Men's Champion and two-time Olympian. His reality show, "Be Good Johnny Weir," is a ratings hit on Sundance Channel and his intelligence and quick wit have made him a popular guest in national media, including post-Olympic visits on "The Tonight Show," "George Lopez" and "Chelsea Lately." He was recently a judge of the Miss USA pageant and is frequently seen on the red carpet.
Creme de la Creme 2010 featuring Johnny Weir is a fashion show on ice. Hosted by Jon Jordan, Local 4 Style Editor, it's the first of its kind. There will be two shows; both held at the Suburban Ice Arena at 54755 Broughton Road in Macomb. The first, a black-tie affair, is at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 27. VIP reception starts at 6 p.m. and will be the premiere of Johnny Weir's one-hour special from "Be Good Johnny Weir." The second show is an encore matinee performance at 2 p.m. Monday, June 28.
The show opens with Alissa Czisny, U.S. ladies figure skating champion. Models will then walk down the runway featuring designs by Rosa Clara of Barcelona and Jenny Packham of London. DJ Zac from the Panache Group has prepared custom mixes for each of the four segments of the show. Johnny Weir will skate in between each segment with the finale being his Lady Gaga/"Poker Face" routine.
"The way fashion, music, lights, sound and skating are integrated together creates a unique theatrical and artistic experience. We wanted to bring what we saw last month in Barcelona's Fashion Week to Detroit," said Jonas Pascua, co-owner of Le Salon Couture Boutique.
Proceeds will benefit Forgotten Harvest, The Pink Fund, the DIA and the St. John Meade Pediatric Hematology Oncology Center.
General admission tickets are $75 and can be purchased online at http://www.cremedelacreme2010.com. VIP and corporate packages are also available.
