Dog-lovers and motorcycle lovers will united Aug. 26 at Silky’s Martini Bar in Dearborn when the second annual Hogs 4 Dogs even roars into town.
Harley-Davidson Motorcycles and Biker Bob’s of Motown have teamed up with Silky’s to raise funds for Friends for the Dearborn Animal Shelter, which takes in thousands of stray and unwanted animals per year, fostering them and helping to put them into good homes. The Dearborn Animal Shelter gained notoriety last year when it rescued – and successfully adopted out – over 100 Chihuahuas from a hoarding situation.
All breeds of dogs, big and small, are welcome at this event – and their humans, too. From 4-9 p.m., Silky’s will feature food and drinks, music from Dog Bone and DJ Steve Miller, a tin can and 50/50 raffle, door prizes, hog and dog contests, plus new Harley-Davidson bikes on display. Items will also be up for auction, and donating an item to the shelter guarantees a free Jell-o shot.
Members of local lesbian biker group Dykes on Bikes will also be on-hand, representing the LGBT community.
Only 200 tickets will be sold for Hogs 4 Dogs, and tickets are $20 each, available at the shelter, Silky’s and Kiernan’s Steak House.
