Gay rodeo gears up for July

The Michigan International Gay Rodeo Association will again produce the Greater Motown International Rodeo July 22-24 at the Wayne County Fairgrounds in Belleville, Michigan. It is an amature gay rodeo run under the guidelines of the International Gay Rodeo Association that is designed to raise money for local charities like the Southeast Michigan Food Gleaners, the Ruth Ellis Center and the Mr. Friendly Project of CARES in Kalamazoo. The rodeo is also straight-friendly.
MIGRA is seeking sponsors, advertisers, entertainers and vendors – including food and services, non-profit agencies and businesses that do not discriminate based on gender, sexual orientation or transgender lifestyle. New this year will be a craft fair for homemade and artistic crafts, western art or country crafts with booth space costing $25. Also new will be a community food drive for the Southeast Michigan Gleaners with the goal to gather 2,011 pounds of food for area food banks. With a donation of five food items, the donor will receive $5 off the regular $15 admission. To be part of the rodeo, please submit a letter of interest to MIGRA, 3319 Greenfield Rd., Box 264, Dearborn, MI 48120 or email your interest to [email protected] or [email protected] For more information, call 616-735-4521 or go online to http://www.michiganrodeo.org.
