Steve Nash joins support for marriage equality in New York

By Tara Cavanaugh

Steve Nash joins a slew of other celebrities in supporting the Human Rights Campaign's efforts to legalize same-sex marriage in New York.
"A growing number of athletes are speaking out in support of gay and lesbian couples getting married," Nash says in the short video. "I'm proud to be one of them."
A bill to legalize same-sex marriage in New York looked hopeful for passage just a few weeks ago, but recent conservative backlash has caused public support to waver.
Phoenix Suns President and CEO Rick Welts came out in an interview with The New York Times last week. He said he turned to Steve Nash for support.
Nash joins other celebrities who support the campaign, such as Vogue Editor Anna Wintour, actress Anne Hathaway, President Bill Clinton and his daughter Chelsea Clinton.
