Downtown Birmingham participates in global shopfest

Downtown Birmingham will join the worldwide celebration of fashion and shopping during Fashion's Night Out on Sept. 8.
Fashion's Night Out is rooted in New York in a partnership among American Vogue, the Council of Fashion Designers of America, NYC & Company and the City of New York. Though established in New York, businesses throughout the world are invited to participate.
The evening is meant to celebrate both fashion and shopping, encouraging businesses to offer unique fashions and special prices for their clothing, drinks and food. FNO also stimulates the food and clothing industries' economy and restores consumer's confidence in the market.
Various venues, including numerous businesses within the Birmingham Principal Shopping District, will have unique storewide sales and events such as complimentary drinks, hors d'oeuvres, live musical performances and models displaying the upcoming season's hottest fashions.
Other stores, such as Antonino and Harp's Lingerie, will host unique events during the evening. Harp's Lingerie will host on-site bra fittings to "experience the delight of a correctly fitted undergarment," as part of their campaign.
Antonino Salon & Spa, which will be pet-friendly for the evening, will offer photo ops for shoppers and their pets in exchange for donations to the Michigan Animal Rescue League. The salon also is offering $20 gift cards in exchange for MARL wish list items.
