I have met you a few times (well, I should say I have been in your presence before) but we have not ever shared the experience of a conversation. I am so glad you were created, just as you are, and that you have the gift of voice to share it with us! Peace my brother!

Rock on brother! Keep your impassioned spirit and momentum running high!

Ryan is amazing. Dedicated, passionate, giving, and determined to change things for the better. I am honored to know him and just sorry I dont get to see or work with him as much as I would like to do. Keep up the good work, Ryan! We're with you, and ready to help.

I too went into sociology and had professors encouraging me, as I came out on campus as trans. One of these professors could also be aptly described as "a poor, white, barefoot girl from Ohio."
As a white-skinned appearing Two-Spirit, I wonder if such an article about me would make mention of my professor's privileged while skin. If my appearance was more stereotypically Native, would the contrast then be salient? As a Native American, I tend to be suspicious of this paternalistic image of a "white savior" helping us "poor, brown people." It's an image popular in films, such as Dances With Wolves. And, if I must say, it is not exactly empowering.
Great job, Ryan, in keeping inclusion and empowerment in our shared consciousness! May we all keep these a priorities in our trans activism.
-Steph
