Penny Seats' 2012 season and annual campaign

ANN ARBOR
Ann Arbor theater company The Penny Seats is excited to announce its 2012 annual campaign, the company's sole fundraising event for the year. Fresh from a successful and exhilarating first production, the company will begin its second season in Performance Network Theatre's Second Stage (also called the Mosh Pit), before staging another splendid summer show in the city's West Park Band Shell. The company is also introducing new donor perks, including a free chance to win Detroit Red Wings tickets.
The Penny Seats incorporated last year with the mission of bringing exciting, high-quality theater to Ann Arbor for the price of a movie ticket. Hundreds of people came to West Park last August to see the company's zany, wondrous debut, Anne-Marie MacDonald's "Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet)" and to enjoy a delicious picnic lunch courtesy of the company's catering partner, What's Cooking Ann Arbor. The Penny Seats' efforts were met with an overwhelmingly positive response – and many questions about what they would do next. They now have an answer: Grow.
Though the company came together to perform outdoor theater, its members believe that enthralling, inexpensive theater ought to be just as easy to find in February as in July; as such, it is proud to announce that its first indoor show will be Jeffrey Hatcher's "What Corbin Knew," a witty tale packed with shocking plot twists and disarming humor.
In July, the company will return to West Park with "She Loves Me," a classic musical by Joe Masteroff, Jerry Bock, and Sheldon Harnick about two workplace rivals who spend their days bickering…and their nights falling in love as secret pen-pals. The show offers comedy and romance, trickery and harmony, and you can enjoy it all with a delicious picnic dinner.
However, the Penny Seats cannot achieve these high goals without your help. To maintain its commitment to keeping ticket prices at $10, these shows and other events are entirely funded through private donations. Contributions of all sizes are welcome, but the company is offering two free tickets to both shows with a $100 donation. And just for visiting the website, donors will receive a free chance to win two sixth row Red Wings tickets, courtesy of law firm Trott &Trott.
