Arsonist torches lesbian couple's Novi home

NOVI –
Tawana Williams and Stacy Baker's mobile home was burned to the ground and vandalized May 12. Police and fire officials told Fox 2 News that arson is believed to be the fire's cause due to evidence of an accelerate. Police are also considering it a potential hate crime because of anti-LGBT slurs found painted on the refrigerator and on the bedroom walls.
The couple was not in town at the time of the fire, but were in Las Vegas celebrating their honeymoon. Baker said that her wedding gown and all the wedding gifts were inside the house, and are now a total loss.
The couple's friend, Lisa Harvin, told the Oakland Press that Williams and Baker lived quietly and peacefully in the neighborhood.
"They're really nice people," she told the paper. "It's nobody's business what they do."
The couple reportedly have a 10 year old daughter and are currently staying in a local motel.
