Arson against honeymooning lesbians' home: How you can help

By Crystal Proxmire

NOVI –
In the early morning hours of May 14, while Stacy Barker and Tawana Williams were celebrating their honeymoon in Las Vegas, someone broke into their house, allegedly scrawled anti-gay slurs on the walls, and set their home on fire. They lost most of their belongings and are living in a hotel with their ten-year-old daughter until the insurance company figures out their claim. Police are investigating the arson, and are considering it a potential hate crime, according to Equality Michigan.
BTL is working on piecing together this tragic story, but in the meantime those who want to help the couple are encouraged to send gifts in the form of grocery and department store gift cards from places like Meijer where they can purchase things they need for their home. Please send gift cards and letters or cards of support to Equality Michigan Victim Services, 19641 West Seven Mile, Detroit, MI 48219.
