Singer-songwriter and female rap trailblazer Nicki Minaj takes on Detroit at the Fox Theatre, July 17.

Trinidadian-born, Minaj moved to Queens in New York City when she was only six. By 2009, Nicki had released three mix tapes and was discovered by fellow rapper Lil Wayne, who secured her a record deal with Young Money Entertainment. Since then, Nicki has become one of the biggest names in rap, becoming the first female solo artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. "Super Bass," Minaj's seventh single, has sold more than four million digital copies, making it one of the best-selling singles in the U.S.
