Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Program Seeks Volunteers

FERNDALE -Cross The Line is currently recruiting youth between the ages of 13 and 20 to become peer educators for the 2014 Cross The Line Peer Outreach Team. Now in its fourth year, Cross The Line presents substance abuse programs to youth at Affirmations, local bars and restaurants, schools and at events. Program manager DeShaun Smith said he plans to expand the program next year by incorporating theatrical and spoken word performances as tools to engage peers.
Cross The Line is an Affirmations' program supported by nine Ferndale bars and restaurants including Anita's Kitchen, Buffalo Wild Wings, Danny's Irish Pub, 8 Plato Beer Company, Rosie O'Gradys, Sneakers Pub and Winezilla.
To volunteer for Cross The Line contact DeShaun Smith at (248) 677-7218 or email [email protected]. Monthly stipends and travel compensation provided.
