Ferndale Mayor: RNC Committeewoman Terri Land Hurting Michigan's Reputation for Business

Ferndale Mayor Dave Coulter wants Republican US Senatorial Candidate Terri Land to join the state's Republicans in asking Dave Agema to step down.

FERNDALE - On Thursday,
Ferndale Mayor David Coulter expressed disappointment over RNC Committeewoman and U.S. Senate candidate Terri Lynn Land's failure to condemn her fellow RNC Member Dave Agema's racist, homophobic and offensive commentary by asking him to resign. He believes that Land's refusal to publicly condemn RNC Committeeman David Agema's repeated discriminatory remarks reflects badly on Michigan families and businesses.
"I'm disappointed by RNC Committeewoman Terri Lynn Land's refusal to stand up to the intolerance demonstrated by her fellow RNC Member David Agema and the most extreme elements of the Republican Party that support him. While reasonable voices in her own party have called out his harmful rhetoric, Terri Lynn Land has made clear she approves of Mr. Agema representing Michigan at the RNC.
"My city has demonstrated that tolerance and inclusion are not just the right things to do, but they create an environment for economic success. Make no mistake, the offensive comments of Mr. Agema and supported by Ms. Land hurts our state and our ability to attract and retain the businesses and families we need to be successful. Leaders that are not committed to making Michigan a place of equal opportunity for all should not represent us, either at the national party level or in the U.S. Senate," said Coulter.
In recent days, state Republicans including Betsy DeVos, have called for Agema to step down. Agema appears to have gone AWOL from the annual winter meeting of the national GOP.The three day confab of party leaders began in Washington DC Wednesday morning, but Agema was apparently not in attendance. The Detroit Free Press is reporting he canceled his two night reservation in a local hotel, and Chad Selweski over at Macomb Politics Politically Speaking blog reports he has been told Agema had canceled those reservations as well.
