The Hotter Than July Film Festival took place Thursday night at Cinema Detroit in Midtown. Film Festival committee co-chairs Darius Baty and Alvina Bursey took time out to pose for a photo between screenings.
Over a dozen films were screened, including documentaries, short films and web series episodes. A highlight among them was the disturbing short film The Young and Evil, which starred Detroit native Vaughn Lowery as a young man striving to contract the HIV virus. Hotter Than July continues Saturday with the picnic in Palmer Park and then a worship service, brunch and tea dance will take place Sunday.
