REC Announces New Program Director

HIGHLAND PARK – The Ruth Ellis Center, a youth social services agency that serves the needs of runaway, homeless and at-risk youth, announced March 17 the nomination of the new program director.
Pamela E. Alexander, MUP, MSA, NCAC II, CADC, ICADC, joins the Ruth Ellis Center as program director. Alexander is responsible for the planning, development, implementation, management, supervision and evaluation of all the center's programs in accordance with the national standards set out by Ruth Ellis Center.
When the opportunity presented itself for Alexander to consider working at the Ruth Ellis Center, she expressed her deepest gratitude and honor in serving at-risk LGBTQ young people.
Alexander has more than 25 years of experience working in the human service field and working with youth from at-risk homes. She has an extensive management background in program development and compliance and she is credentialed in the field of substance disorders at the state, national and international level.
Alexander also has a long history as an activist in the LGBTQ community and is one of the founding members and president of the Detroit Regional LGBTQ Chamber of Commerce.
"I hope that throughout the past 25 years I have made a difference in the lives of others who have struggled, even in my own family! Hopefully I have left some alternative ways of handling life's ups and downs," Alexander said.
