Tax Day Discussion On LGBT Rights In Michigan

ANN ARBOR — Arguments for Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee same-sex marriage cases will be heard before the U.S. Supreme Court on April 28 and the court is scheduled to weigh in on marriage equality by the end of June. Local LGBT activists and legal experts will gather at an upcoming event to discuss the state of LGBT rights in Michigan.
Presented by Outlaws at the University of Michigan, the Jim Toy Community Center and the Washtenaw County Bar Association, LGBTQ Rights Section will discuss how the SCOTUS decision will impact LGBT families in the state and what legal resources will be available to the community.
Panelists include Jay Kaplan, staff attorney for the ACLU Michigan LGBT Project; Lisa Ruby, Michigan Poverty Law Program; and Angie Martell and S. Kerene Moore, Co-Chairs for the WCBA LGBTQ Rights Section.
The talk will begin at 6 p.m. in the South Hall Room 1225 at the University of Michigan Law School located at 625 S. State St. in Ann Arbor.
