Motown Invitational Classic Hosts Annual Detroit River Boat Cruise

By BTL Staff

Tickets are now on sale for the Motown Invitation Classic (MIC) Eighth Annual Detroit River Boat Cruise and Tea Dance that will set sail — rain or shine — on the Detroit River from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.
The event is a fundraiser for Michigan's oldest and largest LGBT bowling tournament that is held every October in metro Detroit, attracting hundreds of bowlers from across the U.S. and Canada.
The three-hour riverboat cruise accommodates up to 250 guests and includes two cash bars, dancing on the sun deck with music provided by DJ Steve Parsons, light refreshments, a 50/50 raffle and special performances by Miss MIC 2015 Jacqueline Frost.
"We are proud to host an event that has become a summertime 'rite of passage' for guests who return every year to dance, make new friends and help raise funds for one of our community's most recognized LGBT sports competitions," said 2015 MIC Co-Director Bill Havican. "There is no better to way have fun in the sun and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the Detroit and Windsor shorelines than taking a riverboat cruise with MIC."
The cruise is open to anyone 21 years of age and older. Boarding for the cruise starts at 12:45 p.m. and will take place at Stroh's River Place, which is located off Jefferson Avenue on Joseph Campau Street at the Detroit River. The Diamond Belle will return to dock at 4 p.m.
The official after-party takes place immediately following the cruise and will be hosted by the new Menjo's Complex located at 928 W. McNichols in Detroit. It will feature drink specials, an outdoor patio, dancing and special surprises for guests.
Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased while supplies last at Menjo's and Steven B's Barber Shop in Ferndale. An optional VIP boat cruise ticket for an additional $10 can be purchased that includes a free gift, a delicious pre-cruise brunch and secured parking at Menjo's, and transportation to and from the dock. Any remaining boat cruise tickets will be sold at the dock the day of the cruise.
