DAM Exposes Unseen Beauty In Bikes, Fire Houses

DETROIT – The Detroit Artist Market's current show, "We The Vehicles: A Tribute to Detroit Bicycle Culture," is all about and for bicycles. Each unique work of art either is a creation from scrap parts of bikes, images of bike parts or is inspired by the feeling of riding a bike. This special show is in partnership with Back Alley Bikes, Detroit's nonprofit bicycle and repair resource center, and runs through the end of September.
On Oct. 3, DAM is hosting the Ladder 12 Art Auction, DAM Gala 1, a fundraiser at the Ladder Company #12 Fire Station near West Lafayette and 10th Street. Dozens of local artists are donating their work for auction, including Sergio De Giusti, Claire D'Aquist, David Brainard, Dawn Cook and Scott Hocking. Michael Chetcuti and Kyle Evans are honorary co-hosts. Tickets are $150 and available at http://www.detroitartistsmarket.org and all proceeds benefit DAM.
