JTCC Board Member to Present Dissertation Findings at Upcoming EMU Talk

YPSILANTI – Jim Toy Community Center board member and University of Michigan Political Science Ph.D. candidate, Logan Casey, will present his findings on "Disgust and Dynamics of LGBT Politics" in an upcoming Equality Research Center, Equality Knowledge Project presentation.
On Feb. 18 Casey will discuss what makes negative attitudes towards LGBT people and issues so enduring, given the shifts in public opinion over recent years. Casey will present his findings on how negative emotions, particularly disgust, continue to influence public opinion toward LGBT people.
In 2015 alone, Casey presented on LGBT topics at the House of British Parliament in London, Arizona State University, the Annual American Political Science Association in San Francisco and the Annual Midwest Political Science Association in Chicago. In 2012 he was awarded the John Kingdon Award for Excellence in Teaching for his work in the University of Michigan Department of Political Science. In addition to his academic work, Casey has served on the Ann Arbor Human Rights Commission since 2013.
The presentation on "Disgust and Dynamics of LGBT Politics" will take place at 5:30 p.m. in room 300 at the Eastern Michigan University student center. The student center is located at 900 Oakwood St. in Ypsilanti.
