Michigan Press Association names The Ann Arbor News 'Newspaper of the Year'

The Ann Arbor News has won the Newspaper of the Year award in its circulation category in the Michigan Press Association's 2016 Better Newspaper Contest.
The newspaper competed against papers with circulations from 11,001 to 20,000, including the Battle Creek Enquirer, Monroe Evening News, Traverse City Record-Eagle, Bay City Times, Jackson Citizen Patriot, Times Herald, Herald-Palladium and Holland Sentinel.
Overall, MLive Media Group journalists received 99 awards in the MPA's contest.
The awards were announced Jan. 26 at the MPA's annual convention at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids. MLive Media Group formed in 2012, and includes the MLive.com web site, as well as newspapers in Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Muskegon, Jackson, Flint, Saginaw and Bay City.
