Community Invited to Discuss 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey Report Results

BY BTL STAFF

Equality Michigan and members of the transgender community will release Michigan-specific data from the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey on May 24 at multiple times and locations across the state.
The report, conducted by the National Center for Transgender Equality, reveals "disturbing discrimination trends and a range of disparities between transgender people and the general population in all areas of life," according to a statement on EQMI's Facebook page. The data will examine the experiences of approximately 900 Michigan respondents.
During each discussion, transgender community members will share their personal stories and EQMI will speak about the policy implications and the urgent need for legislative action. Cities participating in the release include Benton Harbor, Burton, Detroit, Kalamazoo and Lansing.
