You’ve likely seen Garrett Clayton, Dearborn native and alum of Dearborn Heights’ Crestwood High School and Oakland University, on screens large and small. The versatile actor has starred in Disney’s “Teen Beach Movie” and “Teen Beach Movie 2,” played a gay porn star in “King Cobra,” sung and danced on NBC’s “Hairspray Live!,” and appeared in Season One of “The Fosters,” a TV show about a lesbian couple raising five kids.
Now Clayton has wrapped up what might be his most important part yet: groom to screenwriter Blake Knight with Alicia Silverstone officiating.
“Marrying you was everything I hoped it would be. I love you @hrhblakeknight. Thank you to everyone who helped us make our wedding day a dream,” Clayton posted to Instagram earlier this week.

According to People, the couple had to postpone their wedding multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But on Sept. 4 they exchanged vows in a social distance-friendly outdoor wedding in Los Angeles.
“The theme for the wedding is ‘Garden Party,” Knight tells People. “We told people to think of it as a British Royal Wedding meets…”
“Kentucky Derby,” Clayton interjects.
“Yeah. Lots of big hats and fun colors,” Knight says.
Though Clayton and Knight (which sounds like the name of a bespoke bed linen company) have been together since 2011, Clayton was not out when Pride Source interviewed him in 2016.
“When we first made our relationship official, I was told to be in the closet professionally and no one even knew we were together yet,” Clayton tells People. “I was told enough times, ‘If you come out, you won’t be able to audition for 80 percent of roles that you’d be seen for if you just stay in the closet.’ It’s definitely been a journey.”
