Gallery U, a new contemporary art space located in downtown Royal Oak, will hold its grand opening during Arts, Beats & Eats weekend, from 6-10 p.m. Sept. 4.
Formed by its parent company, Universal Institute, a rehabilitation facility for people with Traumatic Brain Injuries and Neurological Impairments, the gallery’s mission is to showcase the best original contemporary artwork at affordable prices.
Gallery U will present artwork by people with disabilities as well as emerging artists from around the world. Work by photographer Gerry Visco, who will also appear at Five15 the day before (see accompanying story), will be on hand during the opening, along with many other artists.
Gallery U is located at 310 Fourth St. in Royal Oak. For more information, contact Kristen Husted at 248-680-0080.
