Dear BTL,
Regarding Charles Alexander’s Feb. 2 Parting Glances column “Oranges & lemons sliced.” Anita Bryant was a product of what she was taught. I feel sorry for her. She never saw gay people for what they were. She was ignorant and the gay haters of that period used her because they did not have her platform. As a gay Christian man I look beyond all the evil that she did and said. I don’t ever want to hate as much as they (the religious bigots) did and still do. I want to be better than that and really live out what I think the Bible says. With that said, I bet she would do things different if she had the chance to do it all over again.
