Campus calls for art entries

Lansing Community College will showcase the diverse artistic talents of the school with its third round of the Artwork on Campus, an initiative to purchase and display the artwork of its students, faculty and staff.
The Artwork on Campus Program supports the LCC community's talents by purchasing and displaying the artwork, giving the entire purchase price to the artist and allowing artist retention of the copyright to the work. The College plans to purchase approximately 20 items and spend up to $10,000 during the selection period.
"This program will contribute to creating an environment that enhances student learning and the community's use of the campus," said Mary Cusack, performing arts coordinator, in a statement.
The selected artwork will grace the halls and walls of the newly renovated first floor of the Gannon Building, as well as in other public areas of all of LCC's campuses. The program is open to living former and current students, faculty and staff.
Artists are encouraged to submit their original creations in the form of any media including but not limited to painting, sculpture, prints, drawings, stained glass, calligraphy, mosaics, photography, clay, fiber and textiles, wood, metals, plastics, etc. Items entered should have been completed within the last three years.
Cusack, who is also an Artwork on Campus committee member, said, "Students and staff have really taken notice of the College's growing collection of fine art. It's rewarding and important to support artists who have ties to the college and the community."
Entries must be delivered to the first floor of the Health and Human Services Building during the following times: 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Jan. 25, noon-5:30 p.m. Jan. 26 and 8-10 a.m. Jan. 27. For further information on submitting work, please visit: http://www.lcc.edu/happenings/art_work_on_campus.
