Start the New Year Off Right. Join Weight Watchers at Affirmations!
New Year’s resolutions are always easier to make than keep, but if your resolution was to lose weight and eat healthier this year, than youÕre in luck. Affirmations will be starting up our third 12 week Weight Watchers program here at the center on Thursday January 8th at 7pm. Ask anybody who participated in one or both of the first two sessions and theyÕll tell you that not only is Weight Watchers effective, but having an LGBT friendly meeting to go to is encouraging and fun! We also have our Weight Crunchers program which supplements the typical Weight Watchers meeting with an added hour of idea sharing, support, taste tests, presentations and more! The 12 week program cost is $138 (which breaks down to $11.50 a session). Please call Laura Kane-Witkowski at the center for more information.

The Detroit Together Men’s Chorus is starting a monthly fundraiser the 4th friday of each month starting with the fourth friday in January 2004 (Jan. 23,) DTMC will sponsor a Euchre Night at Diamond Jim’s Saloon from 7-9 p.m. Cost is $10 per person and cash prizes will be given out to winning players each game night. Woman On THe Move Dinner Club meets once a month on Fridays, we are reaching nout to other women to join. We do volunteer work in the community and try to form networks with other groups. Coalition for Adoption Rights Equality (CARE) is planning a We Are Family Lobby Day for Tuesday, May 11, 2004, the day after Mother’s Day. CARE hopes to get a contingent of gay and lesbian families to come to Lansing and meet with legislators. They are currently looking for families willing to participate. Negritude: An Afrocentric Perspective is seeking Adults and youth ages 14 and up in the County of Kalamazoo who are interested in showcasing their artistic and creative talent in the areas of: performing arts, theatre, drama, skits, comedy performances, vocals, step shows, drill team performances, artistic modern dance, story telling and open topic commentary, poetry reading, rap, instrumental bands performing jazz, blues, R&B and ‘Ole School Jams. Lansing Community College Gay-Straight Alliance

A social-support group for Gay, Bi-sexual and transgender men is now available in the Port Huron area. Downriver Rainbow LGBT Social Gathering
Meet others from the downriver area in this safe environment. We meet the first Sunday of every month from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. in the Grace Episcopal Church, 15650 Reeck Road in Southgate.
