Covey for county commissioner

Voters in Hazel Park and Royal Oak have an excellent opportunity to elect a new county commissioner from our area. If Ferndale Mayor Craig Covey is successful in his bid to be our next commissioner in the Democratic primary Aug. 3, we would be fortunate indeed.
Craig has helped do some pretty amazing things in Ferndale, with that city winning national awards for renovating and making so popular its former deserted downtown. His work with environmental groups and new green policies have been emulated across the region. His long history of embracing diversity and supporting mass transit has made our area a beacon for young people who might normally move away from our state.
And of course, he has a 30 year career fighting for human rights, inclusion and equality for all people, including the LGBT community in Ohio and Michigan.
After 11 years on the Ferndale City Council, Craig wants to take his efforts to the next level, working on a county wide basis to continue to show our region a new way. With endorsements from labor unions, environmental groups and women's groups, and with support from both the mayor of Royal Oak and our own Hazel Park Mayor Jack Lloyd, he may well be soon representing us well up in Pontiac.
