Detroit joins in on World Hoop Day

EDITOR’S PICK:

On Saturday, July 7, Detroit will join major cities around the world in celebrating “World Hoop Day,” the first-ever, international holiday dedicated to promoting hula hooping for fun and fitness. Think of it like hands across America – but hula hoops around the world. From New York and Atlanta to Tel Aviv and Berlin, the whole planet will be” hooping it up” July 7.
Everyone’s invited (with a hoop if they have one, empty-handed if they don’t) to the celebration at Comerica Cityfest from 3-4:30 p.m. at the Park Stage.
What could top that? An all-ages hoop dance, of course! For more information, check out www.worldhoopdaydetroit.com.
But that’s not all the hoop-la in store for Cityfest. Revolva, a metro-Detroit native and professional hoop performer, will conduct hoop dance workshops at the Park Stage from 4-4:30 p.m. July 4-6. She will also perform nightly, including an 8 p.m. slot on the main stage Thursday, July 5 to keep the crowd riled up for Weird Al Yankovic. Revolva’s complete schedule can be found at http://www.myspace.com/revolverhoops.
