Detroit Zoo Kicks Off Wild Winter Weekends in Jan. 2019

Just because there aren't as many holiday celebrations to look forward to post Jan. 1 doesn't mean that the Metro Detroit area doesn't have winter-embracing events. In fact, starting Jan. 19 Royal Oak's Detroit Zoo is hosting its annual Wild Winter Weekends tradition through Feb. 2.
"The Detroit Zoo is open 362 days a year, and winter is a magnificent time to see animals both indoors and out," said Ron Kagan, Detroit Zoological Society executive director and CEO in a 2016 Wild Winter press release. "A visit at this time of year for a healthy dose of 'Vitamin Z' is the ultimate cool experience."
Guests are encouraged to enjoy their favorite exhibits both indoor and out "along with special activities, zookeeper talks, crafts and more."
