Presented by the University Musical Society, the St. Lawrence String Quartet returns to Ann Arbor's Rackham Auditorium on April 5. During UMS' 09/10 season, this Quartet performed a stellar program of Haydn, Ravel and John Adams. This performance was originally scheduled for Nov. 12, 2011, but was postponed.
For this year's performance, Haydn returns to the program's repertoire with Quarter No. 57 in C Major, Op. 74, No. 1 and Quartet No. 61 in d minor, Op. 76, No. 2. These songs are accompanied by R.M. Shafer's Quarter No. 3 and a new work by Osvaldo Golijov, the Argentinean composer who has worked with the St. Lawrence String Quartet since the early 1990s, titled "Kohelet."
The St. Lawrence String Quartet performs at 7:30 p.m. April 5 at the Rackham Auditorium, 915 E. Washington St., in Ann Arbor. Tickets range from $22-46. For more information, go to http://www.UMS.org or call 734-764-2538.
