Events lead up to Day of Remembrance

FERNDALE – A potluck and townhall will be held at Affirmations Community Center at 6:30 p.m. this Friday, Oct 26. Panelist include Jay Kaplan, staff attorney with the ACLU of Michigan LGBT project, Melissa Pope, from Triangle Foundation, Knoll Larkin from Affirmations and Dr. Julie Nemeck formerly from Spring Arbor University, who was fired when the University learned she was transgendered.
The Day of Rememberance candlight vigil is planned for 7 p.m. Nov. 16 at Metropolitan Community Church of Detroit, 2441 Pinecrest in Ferndale.
Additional events at MCCD are the 7 p.m. screening of "The Gwen Arujo Story"
Nov. 17. On Nov. 18. a renaming/baptism ceremony will take place at the church at the 9 and 11 a.m. services. If you wish to participate please call in advance to let the know by calling (248) 399-7741.
