First Openly Gay Secretary of the Army to Speak at Equality Michigan

Not only is former U.S. Secretary of the Army Eric Fanning the first openly gay individual to hold that position, but he is the president and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association. His vast professional experience has made him Equality Michigan's choice as the featured speaker for their second annual spring luncheon called The Business Case for Equality. The event will be held on Friday, April 27 at 11:30 a.m. at the Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park.
"Michigan businesses know that to attract and retain talent they must be diverse and inclusive. Even long-standing, traditional institutions like the U.S. Army understand the importance of this and have made policy adjustments to promote diversity and inclusiveness," said a press release about the event. "Return on investment in diversity, inclusion and equality are a competitive advantage for businesses looking to increase creativity, innovation and problem-solving capabilities."
The event will focus on not only increasing inclusivity in the workforce, but supporting inclusion in communities overall.
The Meijer Gardens are located at 1000 Beltline Ave. NE, Grand Rapids. More information about the gardens can be found online at meijergardens.org, or by calling 616-957-1580. Tickets are $45. To purchase tickets, email [email protected].
